Ode to nature : Brut réserve x Reforest’Action
There is only one step from the vine to the forest, and Maison Canard-Duchêne took it, to develop a limited edition Brut Réserve alongside Reforest’Action, a French company that is committed to strengthening biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and creation of forests throughout the world. A fitting project for Maison Canard-Duchêne, who has been cultivating a taste for and a commitment to preserving nature for several years. This year, the festive season is all about commitment. Maison Canard-Duchêne has chosen to celebrate nature with its limited edition Brut Réserve Reforest’Action. A partnership that seemed obvious given the similarity of values.
Preserving the environment at all costs
Indeed, for several years now, the Maison Canard-Duchêne has been committed to protecting the environment on a daily basis. A continuous improvement approach where each stage of production integrates a sustainable development process. Moreover, in 2021, 100% of the vineyards received VDC certification, a label whose objective is to minimise the pressure of wine-making practices on the environment (air, climate, water, soil, biodiversity, landscape). Similarly, 9 ha of the vineyards are cultivated organically, and have been since 2009. The company continues to follow this trajectory by improving its processes, from waste recovery to effluent treatment, and by reducing its carbon footprint through the use of a lighter bottle.
A target of 20,000 trees planted
Forest restoration is a key weapon in the fight against global warming, recognised by the UN as the priority of the decade. Let’s talk about numbers: 80% of biodiversity is found in forests, the primary source of terrestrial carbon. Forests provide for the needs of 25% of the world’s population. Thanks to Reforest’Action’s unique crowd-planting model, more than 10 million trees have been funded since its creation in 2010. This concrete response to the climate crisis marks their desire to create new sustainable business models essential to the future of humanity. With this joint project, Canard-Duchêne is contributing to reforestation by committing to replanting more than 20,000 trees in France.
Ethical and gourmet champagne
You can have an ethical champagne with a real sense of style and elegance. Produced by Laurent Fédou, the limited edition Brut Réserve has been aged for three years in the cellar, undergoing malolactic fermentation. It is made from 30% reserve wines and composed of 45% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier. On the palate, it is characterised by a beautiful freshness, interjected by flavours of fresh and juicy fruits, such as mirabelle plum. On the nose, toasted notes and aromas of candied fruits, such as dried apricot, delicately impose. A straw-gold champagne to be served chilled (between 6° and 8°) to accompany a morel risotto and parmesan cream, roasted quail and pan-fried mushrooms or a 24-month mature Comté cheese. A wine to put under a tree, the Christmas tree of course !
